What does "CrewPass Approved" mean?
It’s a trusted stamp that shows you've passed a thorough background check, your criminal history, your ID, your certificates have all shown to be crystal clear, and you're completely safe to employ.
How long does a background check take?
Applying is quick and easy - just 5 minutes! The results usually take 7-10 days, but it can vary depending on the country where the checks are done.
What happens if I don’t meet the criteria?
If something concerning comes up, we’ll let you know right away. You'll have 7 days to appeal if you think there's a mistake. If no appeal is made, your account will be declined.
How much does CrewPass Approved cost?
It’s a one-off payment of £199 for this period. We encourage employers to purchase this for their crew as part of their vetting on board, however individual crew are also able to purchase this.
How long does the "CrewPass Approved" status last?
Your” CrewPass Approved” status is valid for 2 years.
How do I renew my CrewPass?
Your “CrewPass Approved” status is valid for 2 years. After that, you can apply again for a fresh background check to stay verified.
How do I cancel CrewPass?
CrewPass now only offers a one-off payment option, so no ongoing fees! If you were on a monthly plan, you’ll keep paying until the end of your term. You can cancel via your web dashboard, but any remaining balance must be settled.
Who pays for CrewPass Checks?
This is a mix! Most of the time, fleets, management companies and Captains pay for their crew's background checks, however, if you wanted to independantly get yours checked, you have the opportunity to do so! When you get on board a CrewPass Approved boat, the employer is given the option to reimburse this for you upon your employment.
Do background check times vary by country?
Absolutely they do! All countries operate differently, our longest checks tend to be areas like Spain, Netherlands, Norway & Sweden, whereas our quickest checks are the Philippines, the UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand and many more!
Which documents are verified?
All your certificates are verified, but your CV or passport is not through our AI system.
Can a vessel pay to get its crew background checked with CrewPass?
Yes absolutely! This is the most common, with a lot of yachts leaning towards safer vetting on board now.
How do I complete ID verification if I didn’t have my ID?
To be on board, you would have to have your passport, so unless something terrible has happened, you should have this with you! You can use goverment ID, your drivers license or your passport!
Will CrewPass help me find a job?
CrewPass isn’t a recruitment agency, but it boosts your credibility. Your CrewPass digital passport shows employers you’ve passed a security check, helping you stand out.
